THe History of

The Magnolia House

The Magnolia House is a cherished piece of Tylertown’s heritage, serving as an elegant landmark for over a century.

Built in 1912 at 221 Old Highway 98 W, our property stands as a beautiful representation of the early 20th century, connecting directly to the enduring history of Walthall County. While the exact stories held within these walls are for our guests to uncover, the house itself is a product of a deeply rooted area—Tylertown was first settled back in the early 1800s as the Magee Settlement.

At approximately 113 years old, The Magnolia House offers a unique opportunity to host your event or enjoy our services within a location that is truly steeped in Mississippi history.

The Family Behind The Magnolia House

Patricia: The Historian and Creative Force

Originally from Enon, Louisiana, Patricia’s deep roots trace back to the Tylertown area. After graduating from Southeastern University, where she met her husband, Bart, she spent 30 years in the education system before retiring. Patricia is not only an incredibly talented and creative visionary but also a dedicated historian. She transitioned into full-time partnership with Bart to expand their successful business, bringing a lifetime of discipline and creativity to every venture.

Bart: The Business Foundation

While Bart hails from New Orleans, his family ties to Tylertown run deep through his grandfather. Bart holds a degree in Marketing and Business from Southeastern, providing the strong financial and strategic foundation for The Magnolia House and their other businesses. He serves as the key business partner, ensuring every event and operation is managed with professional precision.

Kim: The Florist and Design Specialist

Kim, their daughter, spent 25 years teaching 4th and 5th grade before retiring to join the family business full-time. She holds a Florist Specialist license and is the primary creative force behind the floral arrangements and design work. Kim’s background as an educator, combined with her artistic talent, ensures the creative and design aspects of The Magnolia House are always inspired and perfectly executed.

Together, this family brings a rare blend of historic local connection, decades of business experience, and in-house creative talent to The Magnolia House.
